Day 27
This is for today, March 16th (Sorry, I didn't post it earlier for you!)
A verse to ponder
Luke 14:7-10 - When he noticed how the guests picked the places of honor at the table, he told them this parable: “When someone invites you to a wedding feast, do not take the place of honor, for a person more distinguished than you may have been invited. If so, the host who invited both of you will come and say to you, ‘Give this person your seat.’ Then, humiliated, you will have to take the least important place. But when you are invited, take the lowest place, so that when your host comes, he will say to you, ‘Friend, move up to a better place.’ Then you will be honored in the presence of all the other guests.
An intentional blessing for the classroom
Do you have a special chair in your room that can be used as the place of honor? If you do not have one designated as the “Seat of Honor,” use your teacher chair for today. Identify the shyest student who would never think of asking to be in the place of honor and bestow this intentional blessing by placing them in the “Seat of Honor,” for the day. Place it in a area that will bestow that sense of importance.
A focus of reflection
What happens when the rest of the students want to be in the “Seat of Honor”? This random selection is a blessing from the teacher’s heart and cannot be earned which is very hard for children to understand. However, it is a great idea to devise a way for every child to feel that sense of importance at some time during the year, “just because” and not because they deserve it.
