Day 21 - Intentional Blessings in the Classroom

Day 21

(This is for Thursday, March 23rd)

As teachers, we make such a difference both positive and negative. Every word that comes out of our mouth is soothing or destructive. It is rarely neutral. Begin the day in prayer at home asking God to guard the portals of your lips and then continue to pray when you get to school that you may be a blessing.

A verse to ponder

As for me, far be it from me that I should sin against the Lord by failing to pray for you. And I will teach you the way that is good and right. But be sure to fear the Lord and serve him faithfully with all your heart; consider what great things he has done for you.

An intentional blessing for the classroom

Although prayer is always the foundation of all good plans, good intentions and intentional blessings, today’s focus is on prayer itself. Begin this morning with a specific prayer for peace in your school. Bring up name of students, teachers, paraprofessionals and/or administrators to God for healing, both physical and emotional and a spirit of goodness to go before you in all things that you do today. Ask God to help you to be intentional in all acts of blessings for the rest of the school year and beyond. Give thanks at the end of the day for all the blessings God has afforded you today.

A focus of reflection

How often do you pray for your students and colleagues while you are on campus? Is it legal to pray at school? Of course! Private prayer is free speech. Teachers, while serving in their official capacities, may not pray with the students, but certainly may pray for the students. Think about the power of a praying teacher and what a blessing we are when we begin our day in prayer.

(Put aside your change for the gift of lunch for someone at school. It adds up quickly.)

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K
