Day 1 of the 12 Days Until Christmas in Sacred Word and Song

Getting ready for Christmas includes getting ready spiritually.  Each day one Scripture will be given.  Here are some ways to enhance your experience.
  • Read the scripture from your Bible.
  • Listen to the verse linked below.
  • Read the words of the selected song for that reading.
  • Listen to part of the song. (Only 30 sec. of the song are included to honor copyrights and intellectual properties of the artists).

Most of all, give thanks for what God has done through Jesus Christ, our Lord.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

(only a 30 second portion is played due to copyrights and intellectual properties)

What Child is This?
What Child is this, who laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping.

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Good Christian, fear:
For sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading;

Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through,
The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh,
Come peasant king to own HIm,
The King of Kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone HIm.

Raise, raise the song on high,
The Virigin sings her lullaby;
Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sings:
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

Sung by Cheri Keaggy, from God With Us, A Celebration of Christmas Carols and Classics

Words:  William C. Dix, The Manger Throne, 1865

Music: Greensleeves, 16th century English melody

The 12 Days Until Christmas in Sacred Word and Song begins tomorrow!

The Christmas season, a time of great joy, has somehow become very busy. With much anticipation, there is often accompanying anxiety. The best antidote for apprehension this season is to be in the Word of God.  This site is dedicated to the peace that surpasses all understanding that comes from God.  May He bless you as you read His story and enjoy the words of some of the sacred songs of the season.

I will release one Scripture and one excerpt from a Christmas song each day until Christmas. I hope you enjoy the 12 Days Until Christmas in Song and Word and that He receives all the glory.

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K

CIPE Prayer Breakfast 2017

The 16th annual CIPE Prayer Breakfast was held on Saturday, September 23, 2017 at the Altamonte Springs Hilton. For the 12th year in a row, the Seminole High School Gospel Choir kicked off the event.

Karen Seddon, director of FL CEAI (Christian Educators Assoc. Int.) was able to shared some of the important CEAI updates that include:
A delicious breakfast of eggs, bacon, pastries, pancakes and more was served by the hotel staff. All enjoyed the fellowship time. Our guest speaker, Dr. Bill Ziegler spoke to us about joy. Dr. Ziegler's energy and enthusiasm was graced by his storytelling gift as he shared the gift of being Jesus in the public schools. Perhaps the story most loved was when Dr. Ziegler helped a family for 6 years by driving brothers to college and home for 6 years!

A sweet time of corporate listening prayer allowed for the whole group to participate in prayer together at each table. This special time of worship with our brothers and sisters in the public schools was concluded with praise and worship by William Tillman, 2nd grade teacher in Seminole County.

May God bless you all in your high calling this new school year. Pray and be in His Word!

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K

Back-To-School Prayer Breakfast - Osceola County

On Saturday, August 26th, CEAI Osceola County sponsored a back-to-school prayer breakfast to encourage, equip and empower educators for the 2017-2018 school year. Shireen offered an opening prayer and then we were blessed by a sweet time of worship from Brian and Xavier. Brian was last year's recipient of the Honor the Grads award from St. Cloud High School. He generously gave back to us by singing before and throughout the fellowship time of the breakfast. Thank you Brain and Xavier. Our delicious breakfast was catered by Koffee Kup, voted the best breakfast in Osceola County again!

Our keynote speaker Derrick Hicks educated the educators on the history of public schools and showed repeatedly how our nation was built on the strong pillars of Christianity. The educators all wished there was a way to review his presentation again or that they had taken better notes.

Karen was able to shared some of the important CEAI updates that include:
Liz closed the prayer breakfast in prayer the encouragement to fellowship. May God bless you all in your high calling this new school year. Pray and be in His Word!

Back-To-School Prayer Breakfast - St. Johns County

The St. Johns County Christian Educators network gathered on Saturday, August 19th to praise God and to pray. The prayer breakfast is one of three events in the school year: the prayer breakfast, a mid-year luncheon and Honor the Graduates at the end of the school year. The breakfast was catered and served by Turning Point at Calvary. The church donates its meeting hall, music ministry, the breakfast and student servants to the CEAI Network so that love offerings can be saved for the third event in May, Honor the Graduates. We were able to sing songs of praise, eat a delicious breakfast and hear from the St. Johns County Teacher of the Year, Dana Kelly. She gave a heartfelt and encouraging message by asking children what a Christian educator and Christian principal should be like. She shared their responses through video. She asked them to pray for us and presented those prayers through video also. There is nothing like the prayers of children.

The second event in the school year is a luncheon sponsored by another church (TBD) each year who donate their facilities and the members of the CEAI network bring a potluck luncheon. A guest speaker is invited to inspire the educators and another love offering is collected for Honor the Grads. Mark your calendars for January 20, 2018.

The 3rd event is at the end of the year when the Christian Educators host "Honor The Grads" a time to allow 14 selected students from the seven St. Johns County high schools. These students were chosen by their peers because they best demonstrated their walk with Christ. The students are given a medallion of integrity to be worn at graduation, a certificate and a $100 scholarship. They are also given the opportunity to give a testimony and to share their future plans.  Honor the Grads will be held on April 30, 2018.

This model affords our faith-based organizations an opportunity to honor students and teachers, allows teachers of like minds to meet together to bless their community and recognize students of integrity. It is simple to replicate and begins with just a few teachers in any district. Please let us know if you would like some help to begin a program of blessing such as this. Thank you St. Johns County CEAI network. You are a blessing to more than just St. Johns County! We now have Honor the Grads in Osceola and Seminole Counties.

AW 180 and 1:16PM begin on 8/14/17

WHAT IS AROUND THE WORD IN 180 DAYS?

The Around the Word in 180 Days (AW180) podcast is designed for the busy educator who loves the Word of God and prayer and seeks community. You are not alone. There are thousands of Christian educators who long to walk their high calling out legally and gracefully in our public schools. In the 2014-2015 school year, we were able to read through the whole New Testament together. During the 2015-2016 school year, we read through 150 Psalms and 31 Proverbs. Now that’s a lot of wisdom! Last school year, we examined God’s promises in 200 days which is now available as a daily devotional to you in Amazon with the key words: Around the Word in 180 Days. For the 2017-2018 we will be sharing, “Just Jesus”, the red letter words in the Book of Matthew. Included in our 10-15 minutes together on Around the Word in 180 Days is:
  • an ABC prayer of adoration
  • the red letter words of Jesus from the book of Matthew
  • the lyrics to a hymn/song about Jesus
  • the 1:16PM prayer prompt
  • Don Clark's daily devotionals
  • a quote suggestion to use in your classroom
  • A final prayer of encouragement

May God bless you with wisdom and guidance, love and mercy as you represent Him well this 2017-2018 school year as we anticipate doing the promises of God. Join our community of believers in the Word and prayer. You are loved.

AW 180 Days can be heard in the following ways:

The Daily Promises of God for Educators is still available for a great daily devotional in three ways:

CEAI National Leadership Summit

Our national  leadership team for Christian Educators gathered for 4 days in beautiful Glen Eyrie in Colorado Springs. This is a great turning point in our 64-year history because it is only the 4th transfer of directors. Unique to this leadership summit is that we kicked off the event with a tribute to our present leader, Finn Laursen and then installed our new leader David Schmus. Participating with us throughout the Summit was also our former director Forrest Turpen. Special thanks to these dedicated godly men who inspire us all. Needless to say, we all experienced a great sense of joy, community, connections and excitement for the future of Christian Educators Association, International (CEAI).

Speaking from a purely personal point of view, I was so encouraged by the vision and love that exuded from our leaders across the nation. Each area has unique cultures and stories to tell of how God's love and truth is transforming education. However, we want more. David has a heart cry to wake up the army that we may obey Matthew 6:33 - Seek first the kingdom and His righteousness and all these things will be given to you as well. We know there are precious Christian educators on every campus in America who simply need a gentle nudge to wake up! We believe that is our call to encourage, equip and empower them with Biblical principles.

We are learning to abide, listen and follow what our Commander-in-Chief Jesus is calling us to do. He speaks to us all at different times and in different ways, but we yearn to follow that we may bless the educators and students of our public, private and charter schools of America. Will you help us? Do you have a "hot" heart for God? Luke 24:32They asked each other, “Were not our hearts burning within us while he talked with us on the road and opened the Scriptures to us?” If so, sent a short note to David Schmus, our new executive director at dschmus@ceai.org

The new school year is quickly approaching. We are your prayer covering. We yearn for our "hot" hearted educators to help us cover EVERY campus in America in prayer regularly and tell the stories of how God is transforming their school with His love and truth. Come join this awesome movement.

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K
