Back-To-School Prayer Breakfast - St. Johns County

The St. Johns County Christian Educators network gathered on Saturday, August 19th to praise God and to pray. The prayer breakfast is one of three events in the school year: the prayer breakfast, a mid-year luncheon and Honor the Graduates at the end of the school year. The breakfast was catered and served by Turning Point at Calvary. The church donates its meeting hall, music ministry, the breakfast and student servants to the CEAI Network so that love offerings can be saved for the third event in May, Honor the Graduates. We were able to sing songs of praise, eat a delicious breakfast and hear from the St. Johns County Teacher of the Year, Dana Kelly. She gave a heartfelt and encouraging message by asking children what a Christian educator and Christian principal should be like. She shared their responses through video. She asked them to pray for us and presented those prayers through video also. There is nothing like the prayers of children.

The second event in the school year is a luncheon sponsored by another church (TBD) each year who donate their facilities and the members of the CEAI network bring a potluck luncheon. A guest speaker is invited to inspire the educators and another love offering is collected for Honor the Grads. Mark your calendars for January 20, 2018.

The 3rd event is at the end of the year when the Christian Educators host "Honor The Grads" a time to allow 14 selected students from the seven St. Johns County high schools. These students were chosen by their peers because they best demonstrated their walk with Christ. The students are given a medallion of integrity to be worn at graduation, a certificate and a $100 scholarship. They are also given the opportunity to give a testimony and to share their future plans.  Honor the Grads will be held on April 30, 2018.

This model affords our faith-based organizations an opportunity to honor students and teachers, allows teachers of like minds to meet together to bless their community and recognize students of integrity. It is simple to replicate and begins with just a few teachers in any district. Please let us know if you would like some help to begin a program of blessing such as this. Thank you St. Johns County CEAI network. You are a blessing to more than just St. Johns County! We now have Honor the Grads in Osceola and Seminole Counties.
