Day 21 - 40 Days of Intentional Joy

Day 21

When did doing an assignment become an option for students? More and more students opt out of doing their work as if it is ok.  It is increasingly becoming more common and we need to instill the quality of a good work ethic in our students if we expect them to be successful.  There is no standardized test or end of the course exam that can measure hard work, but as professionals it is one of the easiest qualities to recognize and one of the greatest joys in life.

A verse to ponder

Col. 3:23-25 - Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving. Anyone who does wrong will be repaid for their wrongs, and there is no favoritism.

An intentional Joy for the classroom

Hard work is commendable. Is it honored in your classroom or school? Today, let’s intentionally reward a student because of their example of a good work ethic.  Give them something special from your desk that you treasure to be placed on their desk as a badge of honor. Point out the qualities of their hard work and encourage them to continue to work hard. Think about establishing a weekly or regular reward for the qualities of the joy of hard work in your classroom or school.

A focus of reflection

Have you ever really presented work as a joy? We were made in His image. He is THE Creator and He gave us those creative genes! We were born to work and to work creatively. Can we tell the students that they were born in His image and were born to work? Is it legal? Perhaps is it comes up privately, however, we can model hard work, creative work and joy in our work in all we do.
