This post is for all retired educators! Let's give back to those who are still teaching. Let's give them the clear message that they are loved, appreciated and supported. Host a REST dinner with a few of your retired friends who love to pray, fellowship and give thanks. Invite a handful of educators and have a small pot-luck style dinner where the only rule is that the teachers leave their book bags at school and come and rest.
Our first REST dinner was held in our home on November 12th. Five retired educators came together informally and brought food and refreshments for the teachers. We had an amazing antipasto, salad, Fat Boy's meats, beans and slaw, yummy desserts including a hot apple crisp with vanilla ice cream and cookies. Eight current educators were blessed with dinner, fellowship, Finn Laursen's book, "Standing on the Word - Christian Educators in the Public Schools." We also shared ways to legally and gracefully pray on campus, including Prayer Triplets.
The evening was so pleasant and went so quickly. Special thanks to our retired educators who know how difficult and yet rewarding our calling is. Be encouraged Christian educator. This is your high calling. You are not alone.
