Day 3 of the 12 Days Until Christmas in Sacred Word and Song

And the Word was made flesh, and dwelt among us and we beheld His glory, the glory as of the only begotten of the Father, full of grace and truth.

December 15, 2106

Listen here:

Angels We Have Heard on High

Angels we have heard on high
Sweetly singing ore the plains
And the mountains in reply
Echoing their joyous strains

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

Come to Bethlehem an see
Christ whose birth the angels sing
Come adore on bended knee
Christ the Lord the newborn King

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

See Him in a manger laid
Whom the choirs of angels praise
Mary, Joseph, lend your aid
While our hearts in love we raise

Gloria in excelsis Deo
Gloria in excelsis Deo

Unknown, translated by James Chawick 1862

Sung by Avalon, God With Us - A Celebration of Christmas Carols and Classics

Merry Christmas!

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K

Day 2 of the 12 Days until Christmas in Sacred Word and Song

December 14, 2016

Isaiah 7:14

Therefore the Lord Himself will give you a sign: The virgin will conceive an give birth to a Son, and will call Him Immanuel.

For a reading of this Scripture

Day 2 Song excerpt

O Come, O Come Emmanuel

O come, O come, Emmanuel
And ransom captive Israel
That mourns in lonely exile here
Until the Son of God appear
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Rod of Jesse, free
Thine own from Satan's tyranny
From depths of Hell Thy people save
And give them victory o'er the grave
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Day-Spring, come and cheer
Our spirits by Thine advent here
Disperse the gloomy clouds of night
And death's dark shadows put to flight.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, Thou Key of David, come,
And open wide our heavenly home;
Make safe the way that leads on high,
And close the path to misery.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

O come, O come, Thou Lord of might,
Who to Thy tribes, on Sinai's height,
In ancient times did'st give the Law,
In cloud, and majesty and awe.
Rejoice! Rejoice! Emmanuel
Shall come to thee, O Israel.

Sung by Stephen Curtis Chapman, from God With Us, A Celebration of Christmas Carols and Classics

Words:  Written in Latin text in the 12th Century - author unknown, translated into English by John Mason Neale in 1851.

Isaiah 9:6

For to us a child is born,
to us a son is given,
and the government will be on his shoulders.
And he will be called
    Wonderful Counselor, Mighty God,
    Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace.

(only a 30 second portion is played due to copyrights and intellectual properties)

What Child is This?
What Child is this, who laid to rest
On Mary’s lap is sleeping?
Whom angels greet with anthems sweet,
While shepherds watch are keeping.

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sing.
Haste, haste to bring Him laud
The Babe, the Son of Mary.

Good Christian, fear:
For sinners here,
The silent Word is pleading;

Nails, spear, shall pierce Him through,
The Cross be borne, for me, for you:
Hail, hail the Word made flesh,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

So bring Him incense, gold, and myrrh,
Come peasant king to own HIm,
The King of Kings salvation brings,
Let loving hearts enthrone HIm.

Raise, raise the song on high,
The Virigin sings her lullaby;
Joy, joy, for Christ is born,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

This, this is Christ the King,
Whom shepherds guard and angels sings:
Haste, haste to bring Him laud,
The Babe, the Son of Mary!

Sung by Cheri Keaggy, from God With Us, A Celebration of Christmas Carols and Classics

Words:  William C. Dix, The Manger Throne, 1865

Music: Greensleeves, 16th century English melody

The 12 Days Until Christmas in Sacred Song and Word starts tomorrow!

The Christmas season, a time of great joy, has somehow become very busy. With much anticipation, there is often accompanying anxiety. The best antidote for apprehension this season is to be in the Word of God.  This site is dedicated to the peace that surpasses all understanding that comes from God.  May He bless you as you read His story and enjoy the words of some of the sacred songs of the season.

I will release one Scripture and one excerpt from a Christmas song each day until Christmas. I hope you enjoy the 12 Days Until Christmas in Song and Word and that He receives all the glory.

As always, I am prayerfully yours,
K

CIPE - 15th Annual Back-To- School Prayer Breakfast

CIPE - Christians in Public Education hosted the 15th Annual Back-To-School Prayer Breakfast on Saturday, September 24, 2016. CIPE is motivated to inspire Christians in public education to embrace their God ordained role as missionaries in their work environment and to help them recognize that how they walk as Christians impacts everyone around them. Whether you are a teacher, a custodian, a bus driver, a cafeteria worker or an administrator, God has place you in your position to further His kingdom.

The Breakfast opened with prayer and the Seminole High School Gospel Choir. What a blessing it was to hear these students pour their hearts and souls into two great songs. This is the 10th time they have been able to perform at a CIPE Prayer Breakfast. These inspirational young people can be heard on these two links below:

Song 2

The Christian Educator Movement was introduced just before breakfast was served. If you are a Christian and you are in education, we invite you to join with your brothers and sisters and say, "I am a Christian educator." If you are a Christian in the public school, join our movement today. It's FREE, but the benefits are eternal! Go to www.ceai.org and click the Join the Movement button. For more information, you can also go to #iamachristianeducator.

A great breakfast and fellowship was shared by all and then our guest speaker, Scott Humston, was introduced. Wow! What a surprise! Scott is a Christian illusionist grabbing our undivided attention with tricks and mind-benders followed by an inspirational message of our Godly calling in life.  Scott is a master speaker and entertainer and is available for Title I parent nights. For more information, check out his website at http://scotthumston.com

We humbled ourselves during a 20-25 minute time of corporate listening prayer when the participants were given time to pray together in small groups of 2-4 people while guided by prompts and scripture. This precious time of prayer sets the CIPE Prayer Breakfasts apart for its deep spiritual touch on all who came.

Upcoming events were announced, including a January EXPO and Honor the Grads in May. This awesome program awards 2 students from each of the 7 Seminole County High Schools a certificate, $100 scholarship, a medal and an opportunity to give a testimony of how they walked their walk through high school. The most unique part is that the students are chosen by their peers in an FCA, Young Life or other Christian school groups on campus.

The breakfast was concluded with praise and worship led by Shydonna Tossie and closed in prayer by Tommy Robinson. All portions of the breakfast were done to give thanks to our Great God Who blesses us with so much.

The Daily Promises of God for Educators

Today is the start of the 2016-2017 school year series in Around the Word in 180 Days called The Daily Promises of God.  Two years ago we read the New Testament together throughout the school year and last year we read all the Psalms and Proverbs. However, this year we will be reading the Promises of God from Genesis to Revelation. All of the past recordings are still available in the CEAI app. Around the Word in 180 Days (AW180) is designed for the busy educator who loves the Word of God and prayer and seeks community. There are thousands of Christian educators who long to walk their high calling out legally and gracefully in our public schools.

Included in our 10-15 minutes together on Around the Word in 180 Days for the 2016-2017 school year is:
  • an ABC prayer of adoration
  • a promise of God in 4 different translations
  • the 1:16PM prayer prompt
  • CEAI’s daily devotional
  • a quote suggestion to use in your classroom
  • A final prayer of encouragement

New for this year is the Promise Blog that will have the scripture, a promise card and a companion log for you! The cover page, Scripture reference, note to the educator and promise card samples can be found in the 8/21/16 blog entry. Each day will be released one at a time.

AW 180 Days can be heard in the following ways:
• through the CEAI app
• through Podomatic

from the AW 180 Days Facebook page
 in iTunes
• on this website in the Promise blog

May God bless you with wisdom and guidance, love and mercy as you represent Him well this 2016-2017 school year as we anticipate doing the promises of God. Join our community of believers in the Word and prayer. You are loved.

Prayerfully yours,
K

2016-2017 is here!

It's back to school season. A time of hope. A time of refreshing. A time of goals and dreams. I love this time of year because we can ask God to intervene on our campuses. Have you found a prayer partner at your school yet? Do you have a prayer group? Are you considering praying over all your students? There are so many ways to pray for our schools: sitting in the desks of your students and offering them up by name, prayer walking your campus inside and out, praying with colleagues before or after school for the needs of your school community. Let's strive to be the servant leaders this year and bless our colleagues and students.

Here are a few tools for you:
  • The 1:16PM prayers
  • Around the Word in 180 Days
  • Daily Devotionals
  • #iamachristianeducator
The 1:16PM prayer prompts began today! To sign up for them, go to www.one16pray.com and look for directions for your time zone. If you don't want the prompts, set your alarm at 1:16PM each school day and know that you are praying with thousands of Christian educators across the nation.

Around the Word in 180 Days begins again on August 22nd. Two years ago we read the whole New Testament together with our brothers and sisters in the public schools. Last year, we read all of the Psalms and Proverbs. This year we will be reading the promises of God together. For more information, visit www.aw180days.com.

Our Daily Devotionals purposely written by educators for educators are available for print, device reading and can even be heard on Around the Word in 180 Days. You can find them at https://ceai.org/daily-devotionals

Finally, there is a movement to help Christian educators across the nation to stand up and say, "I am a Christian educator." It's a purposeful effort to help us bind together to know that we are not alone. Simple sign up for this FREE network at https://ceai.org/join and spread the word to your brothers and sisters in the public school.

When using any social media add the hashtag #iamachristianeducator

May God bless you and your students this 2016-2017 school year!

Prayerfully yours,
K
